How it Works

LiveVault is the most efficient backup system available. After we set you up you receive an email with your account login details. Click and login then you can download your agent. A simple two minute install followed by a reboot then you are ready to backup, Windows, Redhat or Solaris servers and their online databases!.

The agent installs the Livevault Backup Engine service which makes contact with the Iron Mountain vault over your internet connection. You don't need any special ports open on your firewall. The agent assesses the backup schedule and compares the current data stored in the vault with the new changed data. If it is during the allowed backup window the Engine then commences the backup.

The agent only sends compressed changed blocks of data so, after your first backup, the size of the subsequent backups is typically around one percent or less of your total total data. Of course before the data is transmitted, the digital certificates of both your server and the vault are verified, a secure tunnel is created and the data is encrypted. No one can view the data (including Iron Mountain) without your private key that is set during the install process.

LiveVault can keep 15 minutes snapshots, daily snapshots, yearly or a combination for up to 7 years. Never worry about finding that old tape again.

To restore just login into the LiveVault web site and click on your server. A Windows Explorer like tree allows you to select the file or directory you need restored. Simply click and press "Restore". If you need a full disaster recovery restore we can rush you an appliance with all your data on it anywhere in Australia or New Zealand within 24 hours.
